Gioia Fiammenghi was born in New York City. She attended Parson's School of Design, the Art Student League of New York as well as receiving additional art training in several European schools.
After grauation she created work for the advertising industry, as well as producing magazine illustration, record covers and book jackets.
Gioia has illustrated over 140 children's books with fiction and non-fiction focuses for American and European publishers. Final artwork & sketches from Gioia's various works are included in the Kerlan Collection at the University of Minnesota and the Alexis Dupont Library, Wilmington, Delaware. Her paintings have been in expositions in New York and France.
